April 15, 7:30pm: BRAVO joins SoulPatch for a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

BRAVO’s Esperanza Spalding string ensemble will be among several special guests at SoulPatch Music Productions’ presentation of GRAMMY-Winner John Clayton and Gerald Clayton Tribute to MLK Jr.

The program will feature music of social justice and civil rights in tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Portland’s historic Vancouver Avenue Baptist Church—”a pillar and a stalwart of the African-American community, and the only church in Portland where Dr. King preached, giving his sermon ‘The Future Of Integration’ in 1961.”

BRAVO will be taking part in a grant-funded musical exchange with Junior Orchestra of Yamhill County (JOY), an El Sistema-inspired enrichment program at Edwards Elementary School in Newberg, OR. The Oregon Historical Society’s new, permanent exhibit, Experience Oregon, opens on February 14, 2019.
