Violinist-looper/composer Joe Kye will release his new album, Migrants, and kick off his international tour at Alberta Abbey in Portland on October 27. Born in Korea and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Kye will present an eclectic evening filled with music, movement, and emotional exuberance.
The Vivaldi Strings from BRAVO George will join Joe to perform some of his original music arranged for youth orchestra.
Joe is one of BRAVO’s Artists in Residence for 2017-18 and this is your first chance to hear them play together. Collaborating with Joe for this performance is award-winning dancer Ching Ching Wong of NW Dance Project.
A multi-disciplinary exploration of identity, culture, and the spirit of human migration, Migrants will also include tales of immigration from Kye and Wong’s personal journeys. This is your only chance to see the show before they head, appropriately, around the world with stops in Nepal, Los Angeles, Japan, San Francisco, China, Israel, South Korea, and NYC.
