Sapphire just finished 5th grade at Rosa Parks School, and she has studied violin at BRAVO for the past two years along with her younger sister Naima. In addition to her musical abilities, Sapphire is an excellent writer and public speaker. She wrote the following testimony herself and shared it with a large crowd at the BRAVO Spring Concert on May 19, 2016. We are delighted that Sapphire will have the chance to continue with BRAVO in our new after-school program starting at George Middle School in September 2016.
“Hi, my name is Sapphire, I play the violin. I like BRAVO because it helps me excel in both music and school. BRAVO has given me the opportunity to explore the world of music. Before BRAVO I didn’t know about any other composers except for Mozart. But when I joined BRAVO we were playing more than Mozart. And I know so much about music because of my teachers. I joined because BRAVO looked great playing their instruments. I’ve only been playing for two years and we’ve already met Joshua Bell and played with Black Violin. Thanks to our donors, staff and supporters we are successful in music. I hope BRAVO goes on for thousands of years!”
