Transforming Community Through The Arts
BRAVO Youth Orchestras is on a mission to support students from the most challenging backgrounds by providing them with access to mentorship opportunities via the arts. Over the years, BRAVO has revamped its programming to ensure that it is not only living up to its core values but that it is truly making a difference in the lives of its students and the communities they call home. Since 2013, we have transformed the community we serve by bringing music to hundreds of children in low-income schools who previously did not have access to music. As compared to their peers in the same schools, BRAVO students have been reported to have better attendance, higher reading and math scores, and fewer behavior referrals.
Your support to our organization is greatly appreciated and truly helps drive home social change in the North Portland communities that need it most. Furthermore, it helps us expand our goals of bringing more rigorous and dynamic arts programs to our communities while setting a solid foundation for our students’ success as well as the organization’s growth. BRAVO exists only because of the generous support of hundreds of individual donors like you.

Donate Online
You can make a financial contribution in the allotment of your choosing. Financial contributions directly help underserved youth from some of the most impoverished parts of our community gain access to high-quality performing arts instruction and leadership-building programming free of charge.

Donate Instruments
We welcome donations of student-sized instruments in good condition that can be used by our students. We are currently accepting donations of 1/4 or 1/2 size cellos, trumpets, and trombones. Please note we do not accept piano donations. If you have a piano to donate, please contact our friends at Play it Forward.

Planned Giving
You may be looking for a way to make a significant gift to help further our mission. A bequest is a gift made through your will or trust. It is one of the most popular and flexible ways that you can support our cause.

Volunteer With Us
Join us in creating positive environments and building a strong community for our students. Whether you want to work directly with students in our programs or help behind the scenes, we have a variety of volunteer opportunities.
Please note that all volunteer positions working directly with students are required to go through the Portland Public Schools volunteer background check process before starting to volunteer.

Our afterschool program volunteers assist the Teaching Artists with a variety of tasks during our core afterschool programming. These volunteers will have a regular schedule that is agreed upon with the Program Managers and the Teaching Artists. Afterschool Program volunteers must go through the PPS volunteer background check process before starting to volunteer.
Tasks include:
Working with students in class - classroom behavior, musical skills
Helping Teaching Artists with tasks during class

Our program support volunteers work with BRAVO Office and Program staff on an as needed basis.
Tasks include:
Provide student snacks for a field trip or concert
Drive the BRAVO van for off site concerts or field trips (this requires a driving background check)
Transport instruments to an off-site concert

Our administrative volunteers work with the BRAVO Office staff on short term projects or events. These volunteers work on an as needed basis.
Tasks include:
Student concert support - Ushers, Greeters, Set-up & Tear-down Crews, etc.
Donor event support - Greeters, Set-up & Clean-up Crews, etc.
Administrative support - Sending out Mailings, Data entry
